Chautauqua Lake Rowing Registration Is Monday

LAKEWOOD — The Chautauqua Lake Rowing high school club team is holding registration on Monday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Tri James Services Inc., 4478 W. Fairmount Ave.

Registration is for the 2020 competitive spring season. Preregistration, currently open, is preferred, but is not mandatory. The CLR provides a fun and competitive environment for boys and girls in grades 8-12.

Athletes as young as seventh grade may be eligible to row and are handled on an individual basis. For the steersman (those smaller athletes who steer and encourage rowers in the racing shells), eligibility is from seventh through 12th grades.

No experience is necessary to be a part of the CLR club rowing team. CLR coaches will provide the training to learn to row or act as steersman. Rowing is great for cross training and one of the best team-oriented sports.

Students from all local schools are welcome to register and become part of the club team. Indoor practices start Monday, March 2, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., each day except Wednesday. Outdoor practices, dependent upon weather, begin March 23 at the boathouse, 18 Jones and Gifford, Jamestown. Outdoor practices run Monday through Friday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

For more information on the team and registration, see CLRA’s website at http://www.rowchautauqua.org. Contact information for team coaches is also provided under the high school tab. For those who have additional questions, appointments can be made for parents and athletes to meet a coach at the boathouse, Jones and Gifford Avenue, Jamestown.
