Bound For West Liberty

Jenna Caskey, a member of Jamestown Community College’s volleyball team, signs a national letter of intent to further her academic and athletic pursuits at West Liberty (West Virginia) University. Caskey, a Sinclairville native, had pictured herself moving on to the ranks of the NCAA and competing at a high level. “Competing in the NCAA has always been a dream of mine,” said Caskey. “In my freshman season at JCC, I set a goal for myself that I would transfer and play at a high level. I couldn’t see myself settling for less.” Added Jamestown CC volleyball coach Ashley Lund: “I am incredibly proud of what Jenna did as a Jayhawk. Her hard work and dedication put her in the right circumstances to get recognized. She knew what she wanted from the beginning. I was here to help her grow and to get her where she wanted to go.” In two years in the Jayhawk green and gold, Caskey, an outside hitter, played in 69 matches, accumulating 773 kills, 772 digs, and 81 blocks. During her sophomore season, Caskey was named Region 3 player of the week twice and helped the Jayhawks to a 23-4 regular-season record and a 30-7 overall mark. Caskey was also recognized by the conference, being selected to the All-WNYAC team and as the All-WNYAC Player of the Year. Outside of the conference, Caskey was recognized by the NJCAA Region 3, making First Team All-Region, Region 3 Player of the Year, and Region 3 Tournament Most Valuable Player. Caskey also helped the Jayhawks win the Region 3 tournament for the third year in a row, earning a berth into the national tournament in as many years. At the national tournament, Caskey and the Jayhawks finished seventh in the country for the third year in a row. Caskey’s play at the national tournament earned her a spot on the all-tournament team as one of two players from Region 3 to be selected. To cap off her career, Caskey was named to the NJCAA Division III All-America First Team. West Liberty University is a member of the Mountain East Conference in the NCAA Division II and finished the 2019 season with a record of 17-15 and a conference record of 9-7.
