Rebels Lose Pair To Knights

PITTSTON, Pa. — The Jamestown Rebels lost a pair of 4-1 games to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights in North American Hockey League East Division action over the weekend at the Revolution Ice Centre.

On Saturday, the Knights (16-14-2-1) scored twice in the second period and twice more in the third period.

Jordan Strand scored his fourth goal of the season from Johnny Kalijian and Tyrone Bronte before Artur Turansky scored his eighth of the season from Cam Cervone and Strand.

Seth Bergeron’s first goal of the season from Logan Ommen at 2:18 of the third period pulled the Rebels (11-22-1-2) within a goal, but Egor Postnov tallied his third of the season on the power play from Nikita Asylaev and Caydon Meyer before Turansky netted his second of the game and ninth of the season from Christopher Rubenach and Postnov.

Zach Stejskal stopped 24 of 25 Jamestown shots in the win while Noah West stopped 19 of 23 shots for the Rebels.

On Sunday, two-goal periods in the first and second sent the Knights to victory.

Kaljian opened the scoring from Anthony Mastromonica and Rubenach before Strand scored from Mastromonica and Kaljian.

In the second period, Brian Smith scored twice, the first from Beck Moore and Shane Murphy, and the second from Moore and Bronte.

Valentino Passarelli broke up the shutout with his sixth goal of the season for Jamestown from Ryne Mohrman and Kaden Varga with 2:19 remaining.

Stejskal picked up the win with 41 saves on 42 shots while Jon Howe took the loss with 32 saves on 36 shots.

The Rebels will return to action Friday and Saturday with a pair of 7:05 p.m. games against the Johnstown Tomahawks at Northwest Arena.
