Jayhawks’ Torres Continues To Impress

NORTH EAST, Pa. — Jamestown Community College suffered a 44-12 setback in a NJCAA Region 3 Division III wrestling match on Wednesday.

The Jayhawks (2-8), ranked 13th in the country, got two individual wins, courtesy of Seth MacTavish (174) and Dan Torres (184).

MacTavish was bumped up a weight class and received a forfeit win over the Saints. Torres, who is No. 1 in the country in the 174-pound weight class, also bumped up in weight class, where he faced Draven Douglas. Neither grappler was able to gain an edge for a majority of the match, but Torres continued to work on Douglas, coming away with a fall in the third period.

Joey Perry (149) kept his match competitive, trailing Hunter Derry, before losing via pin.

The Jayhawks will regroup and head to SUNY Ulster on Sunday for the Ulster Quad.
