Adult Curling

Following are the results of Week 1 and 2 of the Dot’s Gift Boutique Backyard Curling Leagues hosted by Northwest Arena.

WEEK 1

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

TRCurlers got off to a hot start to the season as they went undefeated, 2-0, against newcomers Curling Me Softly, 37-36, and the Scuba Crew, 37-26. Bruce Main led the way for TRCurlers. Curling Me Softly was led by Cindy Wilson and Greg Fye.

Scuba Crew bounced back with a commanding 56-40 win over Sweeping with Your Wife. Cheryle Stellato led Scuba Crew. Sweeping with Your Wife ended up going 1-1 with a close victory over Curling Me Softly, 28-27, behind strong play from Joe Poston.

In another close match, The Cremators edged out Shoeless Joe’s Pub, 55-54. Legion of Broom knocked off The Cremators, 49-44, with Dave Leathers leading the way. The Merrill Lynch Cirls knocked off the defending champion, Legion of Broom, in another tight contest, 40-37, as sister curlers Darla Jo Nelson and Dawn Stuart led the way.

Shoeless Joe’s Pub started the new season out right with a 44-41 win over the Cirls as Gannon Jackson was the top curler.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Defending champion Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers started the season out right as they went 2-0 with wins over the Snow Ballers, 35-30, and the Ice Holers, 44-33. Pat Langworthy showed his championship form for Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers.

Also going 2-0 were Fruit of the Brooms led by curling brothers Ed and Steve Cramer, and newcomers Pratt Street Pushers. who knocked off Slyde and the Family Stone, 36-17, and On the Rocks, 37-27, with Debby Perry and Doug Burnett being the top scorers.

Getting the first win of their backyard curling careers were Chadakoin Curling Crew. which defeated On the Rocks, 34-31. Dave Winters led the Chadakoin Curling Crew. Slyde and the Family Stone topped the Crewing Crew, 37-33, led by Alice Burnett.

5:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Stonehenge had a commanding first night to capture two convincing wins over Sweeping with The Enemy, 47-30, and Cliff and the Baby Broomers, 46-36, behind strong play from Reid VanEvery.

Game of Stones also jumped out to a strong first night starting out 2-0 by besting Frozen Assets, 49-45, and the Mountain Dew Zero’s, 32-29, with the star performers being Brian Franklin and Matt Mancuso.

Teams going 1-1 on the night were Frozen Assets, led by Shawn Himes; Pepsi Zero’s with Jarred Warner and Andy Benton leading the way; Cliff and the Baby Broomers with Cliff Sleasman Rachel Hasson leading the team; and Sarah & the Baby Broomers being led by Sarah Carlson.

Leading the way for winless Mountain Dew Zero’s was Greg Storms and for the winless Sweeping with the Enemy was Jessica Burch.

6:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Trojan Curlers takes the top spot on opening night with a total of 79 points and going 2-0, with wins over Knuckle Draggers (38-33) and The Brush Offs (41-36) with Mike Marshall and Adam Frisbee being the top performers. Going 1-1 on the night were All Curled Up with strong play from Michelle Richau, The Brush Offs with their top curler being Steve Shelters, and Rock Blockers being led by Jon Gren Jr. and Jacob Zwieg. Also going 1-1 on opening night was The Garage with Terry Garvin leading the way, Stone Cold Curlers being led to victory by their top scorer Greg Stack, and Sky Rocketers with their best performance coming from David Misenheimer. The Knuckle Draggers went winless on the night with their team being led by Rory Hollabaugh.

7:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Peterson’s Candies/Neil’s Propane had a tremendous opening night by going 2-0, defeating Rollman’s Rockers, 42-37, and Short & Curly, 57-41. Ryan Short pushed Peterson’s Candies/Neil’s Propane to victory.

Newcomer KBZ also came out strong on opening night by eclipsing both of its opponents, beating Rollman’s Rockers, 42-29, and Curl Power, 36-28, with Janet Bowman and Tom Benson leading the way.

Teams that 1-1 were Short & Curly being led by Jamie Smith; Dot’s Gift Boutique with Dan Davis being the top curler; Rollman’s Rockers being carried to victory by Joe Rollman; and Curl Power with Brittany Meadows leading the way.

WEEK 2

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Legion of Broom went 2-0 against Sweeping with Your Wife, 60-47, and TRCurlers, 54-46, with Dave Leathers and Cecil Miller leading the way.

Newcomers Curling Me Softly also went 2-0 on the week as it defeated the Scuba Crew, 42-40, and The Cremators, 45-37, as the husband-and-wife team of Cindy and Mike Wilson were the top curlers.

Scuba Crew bounced back with a 52-40 victory over Merill Lynch Cirls with Tony Stellato being its leading curler.

TRCurlers ended up going 1-1 with a close victory over Shoeless Joe’s Pub, 52-48, with strong play from Bruce Main. Shoeless Joe’s Pub evened its record with a 51-43 win over Sweeping with Your Wife as Andrea Carlson led the way. The Cremators knocked off the Merrill Lynch Cirls, 49-43, as Chad Johnson was the top scorer.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Defending champion Mary’s Smooth Red Curlers has continued its winning ways and improved to 4-0 with wins over Fruit of the Brooms, 42-34, and the Chadakoin Curling Crew, 39-33, with Dave Foti showing his championship form.

Going 2-0 was the Snow Ballers, as it received timely support from Miguel Colon to secure wins over On the Rocks, 48-28, and Slyde & the Family Stone, 53-21. Also going 2-0 were the Ice Holers with wins over the Rocks, 56-39, and the Family Stone, 41-40, with their top curlers Rob Paterniti and Ryan Colburn.

Getting its third win of the season was Fruit of the Brooms as it defeated the Pratt St. Pushers in a close one, 29-28, as Pete Snyder led the way.

5:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Stonehedge continued at the top of the standings and remained undefeated with wins over Sarah and the Broomsmen, 44-32, and the Pepsi Zero’s, 35-25, behind strong play from Reid VanEvery and Cecil Miller. Cliff and the Baby Broomers also went 2-0, besting Frozen Assets, 45-43, and the Mountain Dew Zero’s, 48-47, with top performances from Mark Eicher and Rachael Hasson.

Teams going 1-1 on the night were Frozen Assets, led by Jim Dahlberg and Bob Bruce; Pepsi Zero’s knocking off Game of Stones, 40-38, with strong play from Kellie Warner; Game of Stones besting Sarah and The Broomsmen, 23-19, with John Coan being the top curler; and the Mountain Dew Zero’s defeating Sweeping with the Enemy, 57-38, with Ed Wiggers being the first star.

6:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

The Brush Offs was the only undefeated team this week, going 2-0 with wins over Sky Rocketers, 47-34, and The Garage, 45-33, with Kyle Rahr being the top performer.

The Garage bounced back with a victory over the Knuckle Draggers, 48-32, as Terry Garvin led the way. All Curled Up had a thrilling victory as it defeated the Trojan Curlers on the last stone by Jenn Swanson for a 49-47 win. The Trojan Curlers bounced back with a 48-36 win over the Rock Blockers with strong play from Chris Certo. Rock Blockers recorded an earlier win over Stone Cold Curlers, 33-24, as Claire Tomassini led the way.

Also going 1-1 on the night were The Garage with Terry Garvin leading the way; Stone Cold Curlers being led to victory by its top scorer Alex Miller; and the Knuckle Draggers, thanks to top performances from Bob Drake and Ron Kramer.

7:15 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

Rolling Rocks jumped up in the standings this week going 2-0, by defeating Beebe’s Broomers, 49-34, and the Killer BBB’z, 47-36. Leading the way were Rob White and Joe Dominick.

Also going 2-0 was Dot’s Gift Boutique as it defeated Peterson’s Candies, 44-33, and Rollman’s Rockers, 33-32, with Dan Davis and Rex McCray leading the way.

Both Peterson’s and Rollman’s Rockers bounced back with wins over Curl Power and were led by Jeremy Gruber and Matt Bruster, respectively.

Other teams going 1-1 were Short & Curly, led by John Fisk; and the Killer BBB’z, paced by Tracy Bogdan.
