Raiders Suffer Mat Loss To Clarence

Clarence opened up the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 wrestling season with a 66-14 win over Jamestown on Wednesday night at Jamestown High School.

Caleb Bane got the Red Raiders started out on the right foot, pinning Bobby Lornez in 41 seconds at 285 pounds, but Jamestown could not keep that momentum going.

Ian Howell claimed a 7-6 win over Taylor Crofoot, to give the Red Devils a close victory, while Jamestown’s Chris Sanabria finished off Andrew Le with a 5-4 decision at 132 pounds.

Also earning a pin for the Red Raiders was Dwayne Hannold at 145 over Reilly Popa in 5:52.

SINCLAIRVILLE — Falconer/Cassadaga Valley claimed a pair of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association wrestling wins on Wednesday.

The Falcons rolled to an 87-0 win over Dunkirk, and had no trouble against Randolph with a 78-3 victory.

Against the Marauders Brayden Newman (106), Austin Chase (113), Jacob Clark (120), Joey Pillittieri (132), Bryant Morrison (145), Bryce Baglia (152), John Kozlowski (170), Hudson Johnson (182), Brock Johnson (195), Collin Beichner (220) and Collin Mower (285) all had pins.

Likewise against the Cardinals Mower, Newman, Chase, Hunter Teboe (138), Baglia and Mack Mikula earned wins via fall.

Gowanda’s Michael Horth won by a decision at 106 pounds, while Gowanda’s Dom Rodriguez (145) and Everette Golden (185) each earned pins.

Maple Grove had three pins at 126, 160 and 285 pounds.
