Pietrocarlo Continues To Shine At Edinboro

Edinboro University’s Hope Pietrocarlo (Bemus Point/Maple Grove) was recently named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

The redshirt junior earned the recognition due to her outstanding performance in the Grand Valley State Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan earlier this month.

While facing a strong field of 69 runners in the 5,000-meter run, Pietrocarlo posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, crossing the finish line in 14th place with a time of 17:08.97. That is currently the 10th-best time in Division II. The time is also fifth best in the event all-time at Edinboro.

Pietrocarlo also enjoyed a great deal of success during the cross country season. Thanks to her 15th-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in November, she became Edinboro’s first two-time All-American since Sarah Krolick in 2013. In addition, she played an integral role in Edinboro winning its third straight Atlantic Region championship, as the Fighting Scots placed first at the PSAC Championships.
