Olson, Vizbelis Score Late As Rebels Top Black Bears

ODENTON, Md. — Two late goals lifted Jamestown to a 3-1 win over Maryland in North American Hockey League East Division action Friday.

The Rebels (9-16-0-2) picked up a 2-1 lead at 16:36 of the third period when Eric Olson grabbed his seventh of the year on the power play from Liam Hansson and Noah Finstrom.

Janis Vizbelis added the insurance tally for Jamestown with just over two minutes left to play, while Valentino Passarelli opened up the scoring at 8:12 of the first on feeds by Spencer Cosway and Nick Siffringer.

The Black Bears (10-11-4-0) got on the board in the closing minutes of the first with Luke Mountain’s sixth of the year.

Jamestown goaltender Noah West stopped 26 of 27 shots and Andrew Takacs made 15 saves in the loss.

The Rebels were one for three with the man-advantage and succesfully killed a pair of power plays.

Puck drop for tonight’s rematch is set for 7:45 p.m.
