Caskey Claims First-Team Honors

As if three straight trips to the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Championships wasn’t good enough, Jamestown Community College’s volleyball program added another entry to its bulging resume on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jenna Caskey, an outside hitter, was named a first-team All-American in an announcement made by the national office in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“For her to (have) a place on that, for certain, it was a goal of hers,” Jayhawks coach Ashley Lund said. “I know that was in the back of her mind as something she really wanted to accomplish.”

In helping her team to a 30-7 record, Caskey recorded 434 kills, which were sixth best in the nation. She also led the team in service aces with 93, which was No. 2 nationally. Defensively, the Sinclairville native tallied 432 digs and 39 blocks.

Those statistics helped Caskey earn All-WNYAC, Region 3 First Team, and NJCAA Division III All-Tournament Team honors, as well as the All-WNYAC, Region 3 and Region 3 Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Furthermore, Caskey is the third Jamestown CC player to earn first-team All-American honors in the last three years.

SallyAnne Rudny did it in 2017 followed by Kendyl Austin in 2018.

“It speaks so loudly to the effort these girls put in,” Lund said. “Sally was a natural, Kendyl exploded her sophomore year and Jenna came a long way in her freshman year. This year she took the next step. To see them get recognition on a national stage for those efforts is awesome to be part of.”
