Section VI State Qualifier Begins Today

Eight local divers will look to leave their mark on Section VI when the state qualifier gets underway today at 4 p.m. at Maryvale High School.

Hamburg’s Elizabeth Tripp is the No. 1 seed entering action with a qualifying score of 492.75, but Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville’s Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer is just behind as the No. 2 seed with a score of 458.32. Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove’s Hope Marshall is the No. 3 seed (447.30) followed by No. 7 seed Alexandra Pucci-Schaefer of Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville (415.27), No. 16 Rheese Maggio of Jamestown (355.20), No. 17 Ashlyn Swan of Southwestern (350.55), No. 18 Sophie Kreinheder of Southwestern (344.77), No. 21 Elayna Pitts of Frewsburg/Falconer (335.10) and No. 27 Elise Coffin of Southwestern (314.25).

Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville’s Victoria Spacciapolli will be the No. 1 seed in the 100-yard breaststroke when the swimming state qualifier begins Friday at 6 p.m. at the University at Buffalo.

Southwestern’s Teagan Shedd is No. 14 in the 100-yard breaststroke while Frewsburg/Falconer’s Brianna Rosequist is No. 15, Frewsburg/Falconer’s Kaylee Constantino is No. 18 and Jamestown’s Lindsey Spitz is No. 21.

Southwestern’s Grace Wood is the No. 2 seed in the 200-yard freestyle, just over 3 seconds behind No. 1 seed Alexis Trietley of Olean/Portville/Franklinville.

Wood is also the No. 3 seed in the 100-yard freestyle, again just over 2 seconds behind No. 1 seed Trietley. Southwestern’s Isabella Grijalva is No. 13 and Frewsburg/Falconer’s Madison Kramer is No. 23.

Wood’s Southwestern teammate, Natalie Fosberg, is the No. 3 seed in the 50-yard freestyle, less than 1 second behind No. 1 Mary Brinker of East Aurora.

Kramer is the No. 12 seed, Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville’s Amelia Harper is No. 15, Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove’s Izzi Bailey is No. 16 and Grijalva is No. 20.

Fosberg is also the No. 4 seed in the 100-yard backstroke while her teammate, Ellie Kreinheder, is No. 13.

Spacciapolli is the No. 5 seed in the 200-yard individual medley followed by No. 11 Bailey, No. 15 Jenna Sherlock of Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville, No. 19 Shedd, No. 20 Constantino, No. 24 Roisin Hagel of Southwestern and No. 27 Abigail Roth of Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville.

No. 6 Southwestern is the top local seed in the 200-yard medley relay followed by No. 7 Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville, No. 15 Frewsburg/Falconer, No. 25 Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove and No. 26 Jamestown.

Southwestern is also the No. 5 seed in the 400-yard freestyle relay followed by No. 13 Frewsburg/Falconer, No. 14 Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville, No. 23 Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove and No. 26 Jamestown.

Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville is the No. 13 seed in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Frewsburg/Falconer No. 15, Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove No. 17, Southwestern No. 19 and Jamestown No. 31.

Lastly, Harper is the No. 16 seed in the 100-yard butterfly while in the 500-yard freestyle, Frewsburg/Falconer’s Olivia Ekstrom is the No. 26 seed, Sherlock is No. 28 and Southwestern’s Morgan Faulk is No. 30.

Fosberg’s 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Spacciapolli’s 100-yard breaststroke and Wood’s 200-yard freestyle times are already good enough to qualify for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships, which will be held Nov. 22-23 at Ithaca College.
