PITTSTON, Pa. — Despite blowing another late third-period lead, the Jamestown Rebels escaped with a weekend split against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Saturday afternoon at Revolution Ice Centre.

Trailing 2-1, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s Egor Postnov tied the game short-handed with 1:17 remaining to send the game into overtime.

There, Jamestown’s Renars Karkls played hero, scoring his second of the season from Eric Olson with just 39 seconds remaining to send the Rebels (8-15-0-2) to victory.

After a scoreless first period, Zak Currie gave the Knights (11-10-2-1) a 1-0 lead with his 10th goal of the season from Lincoln Hatten and Artur Turansky just 1:46 into the second period.

Jamestown tied the game nearly six minutes later as Zach Brydges scored his first of the year from Seth Bergeron.

The Rebels took a one-goal lead midway through the third period as Nicholas Babbie scored his first of the season from Nick Siffringer before Postnov tied the game late.

Noah West made 28 saves in net for Jamestown while Zach Stejskal made 18 saves for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Rebels return to action Friday and Saturday at Northwest Arena against the Johnstown Tomahawks.
