Raiders Win Opener 4-3 Over Canisius

Cooper Bergman banged home a puck at the side of the net with less than seven seconds remaining as the Jamestown Raiders won their Western New York High School Club Hockey League opener 4-3 over Canisius on Friday night at Northwest Arena.

Jamestown trailed 3-2 in the third period when Devin Wolfe scored on a wrist shot from the point to tie the game at 3.

Brendan Hirliman opened the scoring for Jamestown with a goal from Declan Brown, but Canisius scored the net two goals to lead 2-1 after the opening period.

First, Owen Huber scored unassisted. Will O’Leary then gave Canisius the lead with a goal from Will Jones.

The Raiders tied the game with 1:40 left in the second period as Jackob Guimond scored on a breakaway after Hirliman sent a pass off the glass up the boards.

Canisius retook the lead early in the third period as Ben Marchese scored from Nathan Noble.

Jack Yost and Jackson Roth split time in net for Jamestown, which will take on Orchard Park today at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at Northwest Arena.
