Seven Jayhawks Named To All-WNYAC Team

Seven Jamestown Community College men’s soccer players were named to the All-Western New York Athletic Conference team, the league office announced Wednesday.

Luuk Willemsen and Michael Andalora were named to the All-WNYAC First Team while Lucas Olivera, Alex Bueke, Axel Richardson, Jesse Da Costa and Jakob Moore were named to the All-WNYAC Second Team.

Andalora, sophomore midfielder, has started in all 18 games played this season. He has scored two goals while adding one assist. Andalora has been a vital part of the Jayhawks offense in creating opportunities for his teammates.

Willemsen, a freshman forward, has been on a mission in his first season with the Jayhawks. He has started in 18 of 20 games played this season. Willemsen leads the team in goals with 10 while also creating opportunities for his teammates, coming away with 10 assists. Willemsen has also been clutch in crunch time, scoring three game-winning goals.

Oliveria Santos, a freshman defender, has been a key member of the Jamestown CC defense, which has only given up 28 goals on the year. He has also capitalized on his opportunities on the offensive side of the ball, coming away with one goal and two assists on the season.

Richardson, a freshman forward, has followed the common trend of all the freshmen players on this Jayhawks team. Richardson is tied for third on the team in goals scored with six, including two game-winning goals. Richardson also has one assist on the year.

Beuke, a sophomore defender, rounds out the Jamestown CC defenders recognized by the conference. He is paired with Oliveria Santos as a strong duo in the defensive end for the Jayhawks, a team that has given up 1.35 goals per game.

Da Costa, a freshman midfielder, has also had a stellar 2019 campaign for the Jayhawks. He is second on the team in goals with nine while also adding two assists on the year. Da Costa has also been consistent on his shot opportunities with 24 of 34 shot attempts being on goal.

Moore, a sophomore goalkeeper, has had an incredible season manning the net for the Jayhawks. He has 12 wins on the year in 20 starts. Moore has been sure handed, making 132 saves on 160 shots faced. Moore has also racked up eight shutouts on the season.

The sixth-seeded Jayhawks return to action today in Region 3 District B semifinal action at Genesee Community College against the third-seeded Cougars.

DALRYMPLE, SHOLL HONORED

Jamestown Community College also had two women’s soccer players named to the All-Western New York Athletic team.

Sophomore defender Sutton Dalrymple started in 10 games this season for the Jayhawks. Though Dalrymple was a key role in Jamestown CC’s defense, she took advantage of her opportunities on offense. Dalrymple scored three times this past season on 10 shots on goal. Dalrymple also saw time in net for Jamestown CC, starting in two games, making 11 saves on the season.

Freshman defender Hannah Sholl also played a key role in the Jayhawks defense. Sholl was active on the offensive side as well, scoring one goal on the season. Sholl also saw time in net, making 11 saves.
