Week 2 of the Northwest Arena Backyard Curling Leagues sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique got off to an outstanding start with all 32 teams competing.

5:30 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

All Curled Up continued its hot start to the season as it remained undefeated, going 2-0 against Stone Cold Curlers (35-32) and the Trojan Curlers (32-31) with Jenn Swanson’s thrilling last stone, for the come-from-behind victory over the Trojan Curlers.

The Trojan Curlers ended up going 1-1 with a victory over Arthur R. Gren (52-31) with strong play from John Brinkley. Moving up the standings going 2-0 on the week was Golfers on Ice as it defeated Pepsi Zeros (27-18) and Close Enough (32-28), as Bob Drake and Jim Gustafson led the way.

In other action, The Brush Offs knocked off Pepsi Zero’s (31-26) with Jarrett Kingsbury leading the way, and Arthur R. Gren beat Stone Cold Curlers (38-37) as Claire Tomassini threw the deciding stone in the last end of the match. Close Enough, led by Kris Sellstrom, knocked off The Brush Offs (39-28).

6:30 WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

TRCurlers and Dot’s Gift Boutique moved into a four-way tie for first place, going 2-0 this week with TRC getting wins over Slippery Rocks (32-22) and Games of Stones (37-25) with outstanding play from Bruce Main.

Dot’s collected two wins over Conewango Curlers (34-28) in overtime and The Hackers (40-27) where they were led by Rex McCray.

Neil’s Propane defeated The Hackers (35-34) with Tim Sturges leading the way. Games of Stones, being led by Chris Rodgers and Reid VanEvery, knocked off Swedish Meatballs (39-34). Swedish Meatballs knocked off Slippery Rocks (39-27) with Dan Leake leading the way. Conewango Curlers knocked off Neil’s Propane (36-34), with Kylie Munch being the top curler.

5:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

Legion on Broom took two convincing wins over Cliff and the Baby Broomers (47-27) and Sweeping with Your Wife (26-16), behind strong play of Todd Frangione and Mike Dietrich.

The Scuba Crew also went 2-0 by besting Fruit of the Brooms (46-35) and the Frozen Assets (38-28), with top curlers being Cathy Johnner and Jack Twinam.

Teams going 1-1 on the night were Frozen Assets,led by Jim Dahlberg; Fruit of the Brooms with Ed Cramer leading the way; Sweeping With Your Wife with top curler Tricia Poston; and Shoeless Joe’s Pub led by Cherish Pope.

Leading the way for winless Cliff & The Baby Broomers and The Cremators were Cliff Sleasman and Cookie Nelson, respectively.

6:45 MONDAY LEAGUE

The Ice Holers take the top spot this week with a total of 68 points and going 2-0, with wins over Short and Curly (32-29) and Making Curling Great Again (36-30), led by strong play from Vanessa Kohl. Also going 2-0 were the Jamestown Hammers, led by Summer Darr.

Going 1-1 on the night were the Merrill Lynch Cirls with strong play from Darcy Cramer and Sadie Stuart. Mary’s Smooth Red Curler was paced by David Lobb. Short and Curly and Making Curling Great Again were led by John Fisk and Greg Edwards respectively and Games of Stones and Snow Ballers were led by strong play by Ally Piazza and Elizabeth Gottman.
