Last-Second Goal Sinks Rebels At Showcase

BLAINE, Minn. — With just three seconds remaining before a potential overtime period, the Minnesota Magicians scored to beat the Jamestown Rebels, 2-1, on the second day of the NAHL Showcase on Thursday at Schwan Super Rink.

The Rebels opened the scoring 4:06 into the first period when Kasyn Kruse scored his first of the season from Noah Finstrom and Seth Bergeron.

Minnesota tied the game less than two minutes later as Jake Hale scored his first of the season on the power play from Brett Oberle and Colin Stein.

The score remained 1-1 throughout much of the game until the Magicians secured the win at the 19:57 mark of the third period as Lucas Kanta scored his first of the season from Jonathan Ziskie and Nick Lanigan.

Noah West stopped 26 of 28 shots he faced in net for the Rebels (0-2-0-0) while David Tomeo made 20 saves for Minnesota (1-1-0-0).

Jamestown, which did not have a power play in the contest, will return to action today at 5:30 p.m. against the Kenai River Brown Bears before closing showcase action Saturday at 11 a.m. against the Topeka Pilots.
