HAMMETT, Pa. — Day two of the annual season ender at Eriez Speedway, the September Sweep, started by Bobby Rohrer in 2012, drew a near-capacity crowd to see Chub Frank, son of one of the original track owners, victorious on the track where he was points champion in 1989.

Frank’s Late Model career started in 1986 at the tracks his family co-owned and he had many successful runs here before starting his touring years with STARS and the World of Outlaw Late Models. Frank collected $6,000 for the New Motors Super Late Model win. Also scoring year-end victories were former champion Max Blair in the RUSH Late Model finale, paying $2,500 to win, Randy Hall in the Waterford Hotel E-Mods ($2,000), Jason Black in the Curtze Food Service Street Stocks ($1,500), and John Zeleznick in the L & D Tree Service Challengers. The night was sponsored by HBR Trucking, NicDit, and Empire Landscaping, Construction, and Snow Service.

BLAIR, ALEXANDER SCORE WINS

HAMMETT, Pa. — The eighth annual September Sweeps started with a set of heats for the Bonnell’s Auto Group RUSH Late Models, then time trials were run to set heat lineups for the New Motors Super Late Models.

Colton Flinner was the fastest of the time trials. A total of 146 cars signed into the pit area among the six classes racing. Max Blair continued his winning ways in the New Motors Super Late Model feature, winning by 1.751 seconds over Mike Knight and pocketing $4,000. Matt Alexander, the 2018 track champion, prevailed in the $1,000-to-win feature for the Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economod Trent Vogt Memorial feature. Heats were held for the other four classes with the features scheduled for Saturday.
