Jamestown CC Athletics To Host Basketball, Volleyball Camps

Jamestown Community College Jayhawks athletics and the Total Fitness program will be hosting basketball and volleyball summer camps.

The camps are based around the athletic program’s commitment to teaching young athletes the proper skills and techniques to enhance their ability to play at the next level. The camp directors and staff have vast playing and coaching experience to challenge camp participants.

The boys basketball camp will be held Monday, July 29 through Thursday, Aug. 1. The camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon each day at the Physical Education Complex on campus. Xavier Churnac, JCC men’s basketball coach, will be the camp director. The camp is designed for boys ages 8-15 with a cost of $95. The camp will emphasize individual and team concepts of offense, defense and special situations. There will also be an introduction to speed, agility, strength and plyometric training.

The elite volleyball camp will be held Monday, July 29 through Thursday, Aug. 1. The camp runs from 5-8 p.m. each day in the Physical Education Complex on campus. Ashley Lund, JCC women’s volleyball coach, will be the camp director. The camp is designed for athletes ages 15-18 with high school varsity or JV experience and costs $95. The camp is designed for high school players who want a week of college-level intensity in skills, drills and fundamentals.

The youth volleyball camp will be held Monday, Aug. 5 through Thursday, Aug. 8. The camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon each day in the Physical Education Complex. Brittany Brace, former JCC and SUNY Brockport player and current Falconer coach, will be the camp director. The camp is designed for girls ages 10-15 and costs $95. Participants will develop individual offensive ball skills in all areas of the game and improve defensive skills in coverage, receiving and blocking.
