8U All-Stars Take Second

The Jamestown Cal Ripken 8U All-Star team took second place in the Western New York State Tournament in North Buffalo this past weekend. On Friday, Jamestown defeated Elmira 12-7. North Buffalo then beat Jamestown 26-0 on Sunday morning. The loss put Jamestown into the loser’s bracket against Elmira, and Jamestown won 9-8 in the bottom of the sixth inning. North Buffalo again defeated Jamestown 18-3 for the championship. During the Western New York State Tournament for the 8U Cal Ripken in North Buffalo, Jamestown player Griffin Knopp took second place in the Home Run Derby. Knopp accumulated enough points to allow him to advance to the final round where he finished second against strong competition.
