Stanford University women’s basketball coach Tara VanDerveer conducted a clinic at the Southwestern High School gym Saturday morning. Winner of 1,067 games in her illustrious career, the 1990 Naismith National Coach of the Year and a 10-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year, VanDerveer is also one of only nine NCAA women’s basketball coaches to win more than 900 games, and one of 10 NCAA Division I coaches — men’s or women’s — to win 1,000 games. She was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
