GERRY — The eighth annual Hits For A Cure was held Saturday at the Gerry Town Park. The event this year had a different purpose from its traditional support of breast cancer victims as money raised this year went to the family of 37-year-old Adam Paxton who recently passed from brain cancer. The charity event raised more than $5,000. Monetary donations will be collected through today.

The field was decorated with gray signs, fences and bases, and all of the players, coaches and umpires were in gray attire. The event raised awareness for brain cancer.

Noah Paxton, son of Adam Paxton threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Cortney Hays sang the National Anthem, and donating their time as the games umpires were Robert Scott, Fred Stern, Frank Gugino and Dean Barmore.

The Hits For A Cure committee would like to thank Platinum Sponsors Triple E Mfg. and Design, Stuart Tool & Die and Blackstone Advanced Technologies. Gold Sponsors were Jamestown Jock Shop and Charlie LaDuca of Pro Bats.
