Vaughn Is Medalist, Trojans Win CCAA Three-Man Division 1 Golf Tourney

CHAUTAUQUA — Behind the medalist performance by Max Vaughn, the Southwestern Trojans claimed the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Three-Man Division 1 golf tournament on Thursday at Chautauqua Golf Club.

Vaughn fired a 75 to lead the way for the Trojans, followed by Evan Christensen’s 83 and Drake’s Bell’s 95. Their 253 team total put them comfortably in front of second-place Falconer (285) and third-place Fredonia (297). Olean was fourth with a 307 and Jamestown was fifth with a 342.

David Allen, who finished third among individual golfers, topped Falconer with an 87, and Nick Novelli paced Fredonia with a 92. The remaining team leaders include Kamdyn McClain of Olean with a 91, a score equaled by Caden Salvaggio of Jamestown.

Named Division 1 first-team all-stars were Vaughn, McClain, Salvaggio, Allen, Novelli and Christensen. Second-team selections were Lucas Hoffman and Collan Britz of Fredonia; Drake Bell, Jack White and Brady Fye of Southwestern; and Curtis Hannon of Falconer.

Olean was the recipient of the team sportsmanship award, while McClain claimed the individual honor.

Following are the team records: Southwestern, 10-0; Olean, 6-4; Falconer, 5-5; Jamestown, 5-5; and Fredonia 4-6.

Southwestern (253): Max Vaughn 75, Drake Bell 95, Evan Christensen 83.

Falconer (285): David Allen 87, Curtis Hannon 100, Evan Reynolds 98.

Fredonia (297): Nick Novelli 92, Lucas Hoffman 84, Collan Britz 111.

Olean (307): Kamdyn McClain 91, Talan Stitt 97, Sam Mest 119.

Jamestown (342): Caden Salvaggio 91, Findley Holt 113, Nick Rizzo 118.
