EDINBORO, Pa. — A long year of running for Edinboro’s Corey Wefing (Maple Springs/Maple Grove) will come to an end this week, as he looks to culminate an outstanding season with a strong showing at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will serve as the host for the championships, beginning today.

Wefing qualified in the 1,500-meter run, and has previously earned All-American honors. The preliminaries in the 1,500-meter run are set for today with Wefing going off at 6:10 p.m. CT. The top 12 runners in the race qualify for the finals on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. CT.

Wefing looks to repeat as an All-American in the 1,500 after earning second-team honors a year ago with a ninth-place finish. A year ago, he came in 12th in the preliminaries to qualify for the finals, then moved up to ninth in the finals with a time of 3:46.81.

Wefing won the 1,500-meter run for the second time at the 2019 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The senior also earned All-PSAC honors in the 800-meter run with a third-place showing after previously winning the 800 three times. He owns the 14th-best time in Division II in the 1,500 at 3:46.84. He will run in the first of two heats.
