SOUTH DAYTON — The Pine Valley Panthers claimed their second win of the year in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 East baseball action on Thursday with a 6-4 win over Randolph.

Pine Valley (2-11, 2-7) scored three runs in the second inning off Randolph’s starting pitcher Ashton Bushey, but Randolph answered with three runs of its own in the third inning to tie the game. Pine Valley answered back with a run in each of the next two turns at the plate to put the game away.

Brennan Sercu led the way for the Panthers with three hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI; Kevin Hunt added two hits and four RBIs and also was the winning pitcher.

Mason Pagett took the loss for Randolph (7-4, 6-4). Teammate Josh Brown was 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

JACKSON, DOLCE

LEAD WAY

Bryce Jackson pitched a gem and Christian Dolce provided all the offense necessary as Jamestown edged Frontier, 1-0, in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 game at Martin Road Athletic Complex.

Jackson scattered six hits and struck out nine, and Dolce belted a leadoff home run in the fifth inning to send the Red Raiders (5-8, 2-7) to victory.

For Jackson, the outing was especially meaningful because he had been sidelined for just over two weeks after suffering an injury. But the senior was cleared to practice on Monday, responding with another stellar effort.

Jackson allowed only two runners to reach scoring position.

In addition to Dolce’s homer, Josh Loomis and Chris Beardsley both singled for the Red Raiders.
