Melquist, Peterson Homer For Falconer
SINCLAIRVILLE — Emily Melquist and Courtnee Peterson both homered as Falconer beat Cassadaga Valley, 18-12, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West play Sunday.
Melquist finished 4 for 5 with four RBIs while Ashley Pierce was 3 for 5 with a double for the Golden Falcons (11-8, 6-6), who scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Macy Youngberg doubled and drove in three runs while Alex Rivera was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Pierce and Peterson combined for five strikeouts in the circle.
Brittyn LeBaron went 3 for 5 with two doubles to lead the Cougars (0-15, 0-12) while Hannah Edwards was 2 for 2 with a double. Brielle LeBaron and Holly Crandall each added doubles. Brittyn LeBaron struck out four in the circle.
LEGENDS SWEEP A PAIR
Lancaster swept an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 doubleheader from Jamestown on Sunday at the Martin Road Athletic Complex.
The Legends on the first game, 12-0, in five innings before taking Game 2, 12-5.
Lancaster used a four-run first inning to take control of Game 1. Aubrey Reynolds and Milaysha Anderson each singled for the Red Raiders’ lone hits.
In Game 2, the Legends led 6-5 before pulling away with a five-run fifth inning.
Olivia Gates tripled and Kylie O’Brien doubled while Emma Weng, Morgan Overturf and Lindsey Spitz each had singles for Jamestown (0-17, 0-13).
