Connor Grey Pitches For Triple-A Reno

RENO, Nev. — Connor Grey was called up to Triple-A Reno for its Pacific Coast League game against Tacoma on Monday afternoon.

And while the Aces, the top farm team of the Arizona Diamondbacks, breezed to a 25-8 victory, the Frewsburg native struggled with his command in a relief role.

In 2.1 innings, the right-hander gave up four runs (all earned), seven hits, walked two and struck out one.

Grey’s call-up came after he was the winning pitcher last Tuesday for Double-A Jackson (Mississippi) of the Southern League. In two innings pitched in that game, he surrendered one hit, one run, walked two and struck out two.

The two appearances six days apart are Grey’s only two of the 2019 season after he spent time in extended spring training. Entering this season, the 2016 St. Bonaventure University graduate had posted a 23-15 record with a 3.82 earned run average. In 304 innings pitched with five teams, he had given up 289 hits, struck out 273 and walked 65.
