BASEBALL Easton Tanner Maple Grove Easton Tanner threw five innings, striking out six and walking one while adding a pair of doubles as Maple Grove beat Westfield, 12-2, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West action Thursday. In another league game Monday, Tanner had a pair of singles in a 4-2 win over Clymer/Sherman.
SOFTBALL Nicole Youngberg Falconer Nicole Youngberg went 4 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored as Falconer beat Southwestern, 8-1, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action Tuesday. On Wednesday, Youngberg walked and scored in the sixth inning before hitting an RBI triple and later scored in the seventh inning of the Golden Falcons’ 8-6 league win over Dunkirk. She followed that up with a double, a home run and four RBIs in a 12-6 nonleague win over Brocton on Thursday. Falconer also beat Cassadaga Valley on Monday and swept a doubleheader from Pine Valley on Saturday to complete a six-win week.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD Rayven Sample Falconer/Cassadaga Valley Rayven Sample won the 400 meters and the triple jump in an 89-52 victory over Dunkirk on Tuesday. On Saturday at the Frostbite Relays, Sample was a member of the 3,200-meter relay, 800-meter relay, Sprint-Medley relay, Distance-Medley relay and 1,600-meter relay, all of which set meet records for the Golden Cougars.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD Cassidy Allen Southwestern Cassidy Allen won the 100 meters (13.0), 200 meters (28.4) and pole vault (9-0) as Southwestern beat Olean, 108-33, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action Tuesday at the Fran Sirianni Athletic Complex.
GOLF Branson Morrison Randolph Branson Morrison earned medalist honors with a 38 as Randolph beat Ellicottville and lost to Allegany-Limestone on Thursday at Cardinal Hills Golf Course. On Monday, Morrison fired a 40 in victories over Salamanca and Cattaraugus-Little Valley. On Tuesday, Morrison shot a 43 as the Cardinals topped Franklinville.
TENNIS Neil Gens Fredonia Neil Gens won a pair of matches as Fredonia remained undefeated in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association action. On Tuesday, Gens beat Panama’s Carson Heimburg, 6-1, 6-0, at Chautauqua Institution. On Wednesday, Gens topped Maple Grove’s Kampbell Howard, 6-2, 6-1, in Bemus Point.
