Jamestown Records Many Season Bests, But Falls To Hamburg In ECIC Meet

The Hamburg Bulldogs were the winners of their Erie County Interscholastic Conference swimming and diving meet at the Jamestown High School pool Tuesday night, but Red Raiders’ coach Glen Shoup had reason to feel pretty good when it was over.

“Although the Raiders came up short,” he said after the 124-60 loss, “every single swimmer posted a season-best time at some point in the meet.”

Leading the way for Jamestown were Kyle Dean, Joseph Roehmholdt and Jacob Anderson, who not only performed well in their individual events, but also came up big during their relays.

Dean doubled in the 50-yard freestyle (23.13) and the 100 freestyle (50.63), while Zach Eisenmann doubled for Hamburg in the 500 freestyle (5:04.94) and the 100 breaststroke (1:06.35.

WINS AGAIN

Cole Carlson doubled and Tyler Ridout posted another outstanding effort to highlight Frewsburg/Southwestern’s 124-45 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association swim victory over Dunkirk/Brocton/Westfield on Tuesday.

Carlson claimed the 50-yard freestyle (25.12) and the 100 freestyle (56.69), while Ridout posted 440.18 points in diving for the Bears.

Owen Bates doubled for the Marauders, capturing the 200 freestyle (2:09.93) and the 100 butterfly (1:11.48).

PANAMA — Behind a pair of individual victories by Bill Osula, Fredonia/Cassadaga Valley swam past Panama/Chautauqua Lake/Maple Grove, 100-76.

Osula claimed the 200 individual medley (2:16.95) and the 100 freestyle (51.36) to lead the way for the Hillbillies.
