T’Birds Fall In Alden Tourney Title Game

ALDEN — Emily Peters poured in 13 points in the fourth quarter to lead Pembroke to a 56-51 victory over Chautauqua Lake in the championship game of the Alden Tournament on Saturday.

Peters, the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, finished with 18 points.

Abbie Henry paced Chautauqua Lake (1-1) with 14 points and 14 rebounds, Katelyn Fardink had 15 points and four assists and Emily Phelps added four steals.

The Lady Thunderbirds led, 37-34, after three quarters, but foul trouble and Peters’ clutch play down the stretch was the difference.

HILL LEADS WAY FOR MG

SINCLAIRVILLE — Bre Hill scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Maple Grove to a 61-25 victory over Cassadaga Valley in the championship game of the Cassadaga Valley Tip-Off Tournament.

Hill, the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Marisa Schuppenhauer, who collected nine points and seven assists. Madison Price added four points and eight boards.

Kaylee Pattyson paced the Lady Cougars with nine pints, four rebounds and three blocks, which earned her a berth on the all-tournament team. Joining her on that squad was McKenzie Haskins. Meghan LeBaron added four points and six rebounds in a losing cause.

In the consolation game, Sarah Disbro poured in 16 points to go along with five assists and three steals to pace Falconer to a 41-38 victory over Sherman.

Disbro, an all-tournament selection, received help from Courtnee Peterson (eight points, five rebounds), Ava Fenton (five points and three assists) and Alex Rivera (eight boards).

Makenzie Gratto had 13 rebounds, Amaya Lewczyk had nine and Teddi Hayes hauled in eight for Sherman. Carrie Sands was named to the all-tournament team.
