Frye Has Game-Winning Goal

PITTSTON, Pa. — Alex Frye broke a 1-1 tie 3:32 into the third period and the goal stood up as the winner for the Jamestown Rebels in a 2-1 North American Hockey League East Division win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Friday evening at Revolution Ice Centre.

Jamestown’s Alex Roy opened the scoring 7:56 into the game on the power play with his second goal of the year from Frye and Jim Glynn.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tied the game 6:53 into the second period on the power play when Jacob Baldal scored his 11th of the season from Jake Fuss and Luke Robinson.

Frye’s 16th of the year from Colin Schmidt and Brayden Richards stood up as the winner largely due to the Rebels holding the Knights (11-17-1-0) to just seven shots on goal in the third period.

Ryan Keane earned the win in net for Jamestown (16-9-2-1) with 32 saves on 33 shots while Samuel Vyletelka took the loss with 27 saves on 29 shots.
