Iuculano Leads Frewsburg Girls To Soccer Win

SOUTH DAYTON — Frewsburg (10-5, 9-3) was an 8-0 winner over Pine Valley (0-14) in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division girls soccer game on Wednesday thanks to three goals and two assists by Gabby Iuculano.

Kiara Marchincin added a goal and two assists; Kendal Sohl had a goal and a helper; Taylor McLaughlin had a goal; Maddie Proctor chipped in a goal and an assist; Rachel Annis added a goal; and Ava Hultberg had an assist for the winners.

Madison Horton, Nora Edwards and Iuculano shared the win in net.

Madison Herman made 24 saves and Haley Campbell 20 saves in the loss.

Frewsburg’s modified team claimed a 3-0 win to finish the year undefeated, with no goals allowed all season. This was the second consecutive year that the Bears finished unbeaten.

WESTFIELD EDGES COUGARS

WESTFIELD — Westfield (7-7-1, 6-5-1) was a 3-2 winner over Cassadaga Valley (2-10, 2-9) in CCAA Central play with Juli Smith, Laura Johnston and Marilynn Amborski taking care of the scoring.

Makartnee Mortimer had a pair of assists while Sarah Meder added a goal, and Anna Wenger contributed a goal and an assist for Cassadaga Valley.

Angel Busch made three saves in the win and Isabella Ruiz had 11 saves for the Cougars.

DRAGONS WIN AGAIN

NORTH COLLINS — Maple Grove (14-1, 11-1) posted a 3-0 shutout over North Collins (5-9-1, 4-7-1) thanks to a hat trick by Clare Crossley.

Chloe Kibbe added two assists and Alex Daniels had the helper on the first goal while Kasie Craig made three saves in net.

Crossley now has 21 goals on the season.

TROJANS DOWN T’BIRDS

MAYVILLE — Southwestern (8-7, 6-5) was a 4-1 winner over Chautauqua Lake (1-10, 1-9) in West Division play.

Allison Lundmark, Audrey Ducat, Lotte Kranzo and Kylee Dibble did the scoring for the Trojans while Kylie Brown and Morgan Desnerck had assists.

Melissa Todd had two assists for the winners while Hanna Johnson made five saves.

Emily Phelps scored for the Thunderbirds while Hailey Roush made 13 saves.

Southwestern won the jayvee match.

CARDS, T’WOLVES TIE

CATTARAUGUS — Randolph (6-4-3, 4-4-2) and Cattaraugus-Little Valley (3-9-2, 1-7-2) played to a 0-0 tie in East Division play.

Corin Carpenter made 13 saves to maintain the shutout for the Cardinals.

OLEAN DOWNS FREDONIA

OLEAN — Olean (13-2-1, 10-1-1) was a 3-1 winner over Fredonia (8-6-1, 7-4-1) thanks to a pair of goals by Calista Heister and three assists by Reagan Stitt in West Division action.

Justine Brooks had the middle tally for the Huskies while Kayla O’Connor had seven saves.

BOYS

PINE VALLEY PREVAILS

Pine Valley (11-4, 5-4) won an offensive battle on the road via a 6-5 decision over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (3-12, 2-8) in non-league play.

Ryan Snyder led the winners with a hat trick and two assists; Bayley Finch added a goal and two assists; Chance White had a pair of goals; and Evan Frontuto had two helpers.

RAIDERS FALL TO FRONTIER

HAMBURG — Frontier (12-3-1, 8-3-1) was a 4-2 winner over Jamestown (1-15, 0-12) in ECIC Division 1 play with Jonah Kozak grabbing two goals and an assist.

Declan Wyman and Liam Walsh had goals while Matthew Clifford, Bradley Bowen and Walsh had assists for the Falcons.

BEARS LOSE IN OT

PORTVILLE–Portville (8-6-1, 4-4-1) picked up a 1-0 win over Frewsburg (1-13, 0-9) in overtime.
