Decker Leads Silver Creek Girls To Small School Title In Alden

ALDEN — Silver Creek’s Ellie Decker won the girls Small School race in 19:45.93 to lead the Black Knights to a first-place team finish with 62 points at the Alden Bulldog Invitational on Saturday.

Southwestern’s Hannah Sullivan was second in 20:10.76 to lead the Trojans to a fifth-place finish with 109 points.

Other Silver Creek runners were Juliana Flick in fifth, Daisy League in 12th, Melanie Wilson in 20th and Julia Kennedy in 33rd.

Behind Sullivan for Southwestern were Carissa Minarovich in eighth, Lily Nelson in 22nd, Gabby Wigren in 40th and Quinn Taylor in 50th.

Gowanda finished eighth with 150 points led by Kristine Twoguns in 30th. Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Summer Harper finished 26th with an incomplete team.

Southwestern’s Dagon Bryant finished ninth in the boys Small School race in 16:49.29 to lead the Trojans to a sixth-place team finish with 145 points.

Other Southwestern runners were Eddie Scroxton in 18th, Jackson Vanstrom in 32nd, Brady Fye in 42nd and Jaden Kinnear in 53rd.

Gowanda finished ninth with 240 points led by Christian Cook in 38th. Other Panthers to run were Maddox Browning in 44th, Michael Bentley in 52nd, Pierce Lukonaitis in 62nd and Patrick Strawder in 67th.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Drew Braden finished 24th and Silver Creek’s Gabe Rhodes was 37th with incomplete teams.

East Aurora finished first with 49 points while North East, Pennsylvania’s Josh Lewis won the race in 15:43.86.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Bryce Baglia was 19th in 16:50.83 to lead the Golden Cougars to a seventh-place team finish in the boys Large School race with 216 points.

Other Falconer/Cassadaga Valley finishers included Collin Barmore in 26th, Rayven Sample in 39th, Joey Pilliteri in 65th and Connor Hudson in 78th.

Dunkirk’s Anthony Ruiz was 23rd, Jamestown’s Drew Carlson was 62nd and Dunkirk’s Nelson Rosario was 73rd running with incomplete teams.

Pioneer won the boys Large School crown with 104 points while Lancaster’s Armani Merlino finished first in 15:50.40.

Dunkirk’s Jericha Petrella was 31st, her teammate Kira Kuhlman was 36th and Jamestown’s Siena DeAngelo was 73rd running on incomplete teams in the girls Large School race.

East Aurora won the team title with 37 points while Lockport’s Sydney Nowicki took first place in 18:29.12.
