Senior quarterback Cole Snyder completed 15 of 17 passes for 249 yards and six touchdowns in Southwestern’s 49-7 Class C South defeat of Portville on Friday night at Charles A. Lawson Field. Snyder’s touchdowns went for 19 yards to Mayson Mathews, 1 yard to Gavin Dewey, 12 yards to Garrett Swan, 53 yards to Alex Card, 22 yards to Alex Card and 9 yards to Faizan Munir.

Ellicottville/West Valley
Junior midfielder Jack Snyder had a goal as Ellicottville/West Valley tied Randolph, 2-2, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division play Tuesday. In a 7-0 East Division win over Franklinville on Thursday, Snyder had four assists. In a 3-2 non-league win over Jamestown on Saturday, Snyder had a pair of goals.

Senior midfielder Kylie Brown assisted on Ashley Lundmark’s goal in Southwestern’s 1-0 Chautauqua Cattaraugus-Athletic Association West Division win Monday against Fredonia. Brown scored the Trojans’ first goal in a 2-0 West Division victory against Falconer on Wednesday. On Saturday in a 6-0 league win over Dunkirk, Brown added two more goals.

Maple Grove
Senior setter Alyssa Steen had 21 assists and seven digs as Maple Grove beat Clymer, 25-17, 25-14, 25-12, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division volleyball Tuesday. On Thursday in a 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19 league win over Southwestern, Steen had 24 assists. She then had 22 assists and 10 digs in a 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 non-league victory over North Collins on Friday.

Senior Elise Swanson beat Salamanca’s Nora Warrior, 6-2, 6-0, in Maple Grove’s 5-0 non-league win Tuesday. On Wednesday in a 4-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division defeat of Chautauqua Lake, Swanson beat Emily Bauer, 6-2, 6-4. Swanson completed her week with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of Southwestern’s Hiba Munir in a 3-2 league win Friday.

Junior Peter Auer took third place overall to lead Maple Grove to the varsity Small School Division II team title at the Queensbury Adirondack Invitational on Saturday. Auer finished in 16:51.15, less than 14 seconds behind winner Evan Ensslin of Voorheesville. On Tuesday in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association meet against Clymer/Sherman/Panama and Gowanda, Auer took first with a time of 15:53.

Sophomore Christina Peppy finished seventh overall to lead the Maple Grove girls to a fifth-place team finish in the Large School Division I race at the Queensbury Adirondack Invitational on Saturday. Peppy finished in 19:05.0, just over 40 seconds behind winner Alice Larson of Champlain Valley. On Tuesday in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association meet against Clymer/Sherman/Panama and Gowanda, Peppy finished second.

Sophomore Madison Kramer brook a 22-year-old Frewsburg record when she swan a 1:10.49 in the 100-meter backstroke at the Frewsburg Kickoff Invitational on Saturday. Kramer’s time broke the 1996 mark of 1:13.09 swam by Frewsburg’s Lindsay Swensen. Kramer was also a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay team that broke a 22-year-old record Thursday and reset the mark Saturday with a time of 1:58.05.
