Chautauqua County Travelers Post 2 Wins So Far In Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Chautauqua County Travelers baseball team is 2-1 after the first round of action at the 2018 Disney Labor Day Classic 16U Baseball Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Travelers topped the Miami Giants in a nail-biter, 6-5, thanks to a strong performance from winning pitcher Jacob Payne, who struck out four and walked two.

Aidan Kennedy led the offense in that contest, going 2 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Chautauqua County backed up that win with a 5-1 victory over Puerto Rico, courtesy of a two-hit performance from Matt Gullotti.

Gullotti struck out eight and walked four in the win, with Kennedy going 2 for 2 to lead the offense once more.

In Game 3, Tampa Bay claimed a 7-1 win over the Travelers despite Lucas Porpiglia going 2 for 2 with an RBI double in defeat.

Today Chautauqua County will face Miami once again at 8 a.m., and hope to advance to the next round where the winner of Queens and St. Thomas will await.
