Chautauqua Lake Hits 14 3s, Sets School Record For Points

DUNKIRK — 3-point shooting enabled Chautauqua Lake’s girls to tie a school record for points in CCAA Division 1 West action Thursday night.

The Thunderbirds hit 14-of-30 shots from 3-point range with Katelyn Fardink recording six of them in an 85-37 win over Dunkirk.

Chautauqua Lake (9-5, 4-1) tied the team record for points that was set during the 2014-15 campaign.

The first quarter got Chautauqua Lake off to a good start with a 25-9 spread as Lily Woodis had 9 points. By halftime, the score had risen to 47-21 with Jesse Zenns having 13 points.

Fardink had 16 points in the third quarter as the winners continued to increase the margin. Four 3-pointers were recorded by Fardink in the quarter and she finished with 26 points while Zenns finished with 15 points. Woodis and Emily Phelps scored 11 apiece.

Woodis grabbed 11 rebounds and Hannah Roush had eight in the win. Lexi Jacobson and Phelps each had seven assists for the winners.
