Ecklum Wins Future Stars Singles At P-J Classic
LAKEWOOD — CeCe Ecklum won the Future Stars Singles Division at the Post-Journal Classic tennis tournament Friday at the Lakewood Family YMCA.
Ecklum defeated Brayden Haaksma, 6-0, in the championship. Haaksma beat Clay Hotchkiss in one semifinal while Ecklum beat Dustin Hendrix in the other semifinal.
Ecklum also teamed with Ryanne Hays to win the Future Stars Doubles Division. Ecklum and Hays beat Haaksma and Marcus Laney, 6-3, in the final.
The highlight of the night came in the High School Girls Doubles Division where Emma Collins and Jenna Hayes beat Hiba Munir and Isabella Grijalva, 8-7, with a 10-6 tie-breaker.
In Men’s Open action, Tom Anderson beat Pitt-Bradford’s Tyler Richmond, 6-1.
In High School Boys Singles, Warren’s Lionel Eason beat Shane Federko, 6-1, 6-2.
Action continues today and Sunday at the Lakewood Family YMCA.
