Jamestown AARP To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown AARP chapter will meet Tuesday at Tanglewood Memory Garden, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Parking is available at the site. Elder law attorney, Leigh Ann Orton, from the Knox/McLaughlin Law Firm, will present a program on wealth preservation for seniors. All are seniors, age 50 and over, are welcome.
Bible School Begins Monday
Lutheran Vacation Bible School, a joint effort among Bethel, First, Holy Trinity and Immanuel Lutheran churches, will be held Aug. 11-15, 9 a.m. to noon at First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., Jamestown. Children in pre-k through grade 6 are invited to "Catch the Buzz," where they will play games, eat snacks, sing songs, have Bible adventures, and learn more about malaria through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Malaria Campaign. Erlandson To Speak Aug. 13
FREWSBURG - Tom Erlandson will be giving a PowerPoint presentation at Myers Memorial Library on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. His program, "What's Happening in our Watershed," will address recent and current activities in the Chautauqua Lake watershed. A lot has been happening and he will give an up-to-date summary. The program will be given in the library's community room which is handicap accessible through the Ivory Street entrance. County Commission To Meet Aug. 13
The Chautauqua County Charter and Administrative Code Review Commission has been convened as required every 10 years by the County Charter. The commission held its organizational meeting on July 9, and its next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 331 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., in Mayville. The commission is inviting written comments and suggestions from local government officials and the general public regarding the current charter and administrative code, including potential amendments. Individuals with any comments and suggestions for the commission, or who wish to arrange a time to speak before the commission, should contact Kathy Tampio, clerk of the County Legislature, at 753-4215 or TampioK@co.chautauqua.ny.us.
Music Camp Begins Monday
The Chautauqua Music Camps has announced that their 2014 edition will feature a chamber music camp for high school students. According to Camp Director, Peter Lindblom, "this exciting new offering will be a great addition to our current camp, consisting of middle school band, orchestra and high school jazz. There is no better place than Chautauqua to experience music in the summer." The camp takes place on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution from Aug. 11-16.
