Bissell Closes In On 100th Birthday

Elizabeth Ann Bissell, born June 11, 1914, in Cold Spring, is turning 100. Raised on a farm along with two brothers and four sisters, Elizabeth is the daughter of Lily and Walter Penfield. She married James Bissell on Sept. 26, 1931. Elizabeth has two children: Rosanne (Jim) Babcock and the late Phyllis (Robert) Knipple. She owned Bissell Sawmill in Panama for several years. She now resides in Sherman. Her grandchildren are James F. Babcock, Bonnie Sue Haas, Robert Knipple and Betty Rae Karlow. Her great-grandchildren are Jill Gratto, Jamie Swan, Janelle Kranz, John Nickerson, Karen Doles, Ryan Knipple, Hannah Knipple and Rachel Karlow. She has 14 great-great-grandchildren.
