January isn't the most exciting month of the year, but it has its perks.
Many of us attempt to improve our lives by making New Year's resolutions.
I'm going to keep my resolutions to myself this year - rather than having them printed thousands of times. If I fail to keep them - which history has shown is a definite possibility - I'll be the only one worried about it.
According to a recent TIME article, only 8 percent of us stick to our New Year's resolutions. That's not an encouraging number, but at least some people are achieving their goals. I could become one of them this year. Or, I could forget about my resolutions by spring.
Although making resolutions is fun, my favorite part of January is having a little more free time. January gives us a chance to get back to normal after a hectic, fast-paced end of the year.
Christmas was a blur. Between work and travel, time spent with family was fun, but it was also too brief. Thankfully, we made time for some additional celebrating with family and friends last weekend and throughout the week. We'll do the same throughout the year.
As we plan our wedding and look forward to what the future has to offer, 2014 promises to be an exciting year for us. If my resolutions last until February, we'll be on the fast track to a great 2014. Happy New Year.
