Appreciation Meal Set For Nov. 9
MAYVILLE - A first responders and peace officers appreciation dinner will be held Nov. 9 at the Chautauqua Suites. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. following a leadership seminar from 2-5 p.m. for anyone interested in attending. The guest speaker is Col. Danny McKnight who was a ground troops leader in Mogadishu, Somalia, during the Blackhawk Down incident. Any first responder or peace officer interested in attending can call 490-3300. There is no cost for the event as the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers and the following churches have sponsored the event: Lakewood Baptist, Busti Church of God, Levant Weslyan, First Baptist of Westfield, Westfield Ministerial Assn., Christ First United Methodist and Bemus Point United Methodist.
Costume Parade Set For Thursday
ELLINGTON - The annual Halloween Costume Parade will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ellington Fire Hall. The Ellington Firemen's Auxiliary will furnish cider and donuts. Prizes will be award to the children for best costumes. The event is open to children in the community.
BPU Waste Site Closes Nov. 16
The final day that the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Yard Waste Site will be open in 2013 is Saturday, Nov. 16. Hours on Nov. 16 will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dems To Hold Meet-And-Greet
The Town of Ellicott Democratic Committee is sponsoring a meet-and-greet for county executive candidate Ron Johnson, county clerk candidate Lori Cornell, town of Ellicott and village of Celoron candidates. The event is tonight at 7 at the Celoron Legion located at 26 Jackson Ave. off of Fairmount Avenue. Pizza and wings will be provided by the committee. A cash bar will be available.
Church To Present Film Nov. 7
The Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, will present the DVD ''My Hope for America'' by Billy Graham on Thursday, Nov. 7. A light dinner will be provided by the parish council. If interested in attending, call 267-7251 or 569-6610.
Rummage Sale Begins Friday
SOUTH DAYTON - The South Dayton United Methodist Church, 328 Pine St., will hold a giant indoor rummage sale Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a bag sale beginning at noon. A bake sale will also be held on both days.
Emporium Set For Saturday
Community Helping Hands will hold the third annual Emporium, a craft show/flea market/rummage sale event. Helping Hands is looking for vendors. The Emporium is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and there will be family fun, food, free giveaways and drawings in addition to vendors of all kinds.
