Common Core Talk Is Tonight
Veritas First is presenting "Common Core: The Federal and New York State Deception," at 7 tonight at the James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. Parents, grandparents, community members, teachers, administrators and school board members are welcome to attend.

FALCONER - Ross Grange will meet at the Falcon's Nest Banquet Hall today. Those attending should bring a dish to share for the 6:30 supper. Signed cards for the veterans' hospitals should also be brought. Reports of the recent State Grange Session in Albany will be made by those who attended. All those interested are invited to attend.
Church Ladies Aid Holds Meeting
Cindy Hotchkiss and Barbara Kost hosted a recent meeting of the Kiantone Congregational Church ladies aid, attended by 14 members. Irene Levan, president, led the table blessing. Kost read minutes and Joan Spontaneo, the treasurer's report, flower and card report. Discussion was on the success of the rummage sale and keeping contributions in support of missionaries. Levan closed the meeting with prayer.
Driver Safety Courses Set
AARP announces the following fall six-hour driver safety classes in Cattaraugus County. Classes will be held Oct. 29 and 30 at the Salamanca Senior Center; call 945-3138. Little Valley United Methodist Church will hold classes Nov. 7 and 8; call 938-6247. The cost for these courses is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members. All classes are six hours in length. Drivers of all ages are encouraged to attend. Course participants may be eligible to receive a discount on their auto insurance premium and a reduction of up to four points on their driving record. Empire State To Hold Session
State University of New York Empire State College will hold public information sessions about its associate and bachelor's degree programs at its Jamestown location, Community Services Center, Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, on Wednesday at 4 p.m. For more information, call 686-7850.
St. Luke's Youth To Gather
St. Luke's Episcopal Church youth will begin their regular Wednesday night gatherings this week by marching against bullying from Washington Middle School to Jamestown High School, dressed as superheroes. For more information, contact Miguel Covarrubias, St. Luke's youth minister, at 483-6405.
Library Holding Story Times
BEMUS POINT - A special time for toddlers, ages 2-4, is held at the Bemus Point Library, 13 Main St. every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on the school calendar. Children are treated to stories, songs, crafts and a snack. All children are welcome accompanied by a caregiver. Call 386-2274 with questions.
