CHERRY CREEK - The Cherry Creek Free Library board will host a grand opening of the relocated and renovated library Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.
Dignitaries on hand for the occasion will be William W. Young, Cherry Creek town supervisor, and state Sen. Catherine Young.
"It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child," said Sharon Howe Sweeting, librarian and library board chair. "It took nearly a village to make the relocated and renovated library a reality. Many individuals, businesses and organizations gave freely of their time, effort and resources."
Those donors will be recognized at Saturday's ceremony.
The Board of Directors, donors and volunteers are united by the mission statement they have adopted:
"To serve all the residents of Cherry Creek, with an emphasis on youth; to encourage literacy, offering a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction titles; to provide clean, bright reading areas, community reading programs and special events."
The library is open Monday through Thursday afternoons between 3-5 p.m.
An adult computer fundamentals class meets each Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. and there is a story hour for children between the ages of two and seven each Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
