Wendell K. Butler Sr. passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born April 13, 1957, in Jamestown, N.Y., to Mary Ann Walker and the late Wendell T. Antoine Sr.
He attended Jamestown Public Schools, and worked construction for Holmes and Murphy Inc. Wendell retired in 1994 due to a construction accident, but gained his CDL license and drove for CRST Trucking Co.
Wendell was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was full of life and personality, always put a smile on everyone's face and did whatever he could to help anyone in need. He was a jack of all trades and was skilled in carpentry, plumbing, automobiles and anything involving the outdoors. He was an amazing man and father and will be truly missed by all who knew him!
He is survived by his lifetime partner and wife of 40 years, Gloria J. Butler of Jamestown; his mother, Mary Ann Walker of Lakewood, N.Y.; three children: Wendell Butler Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Gabrielle Butler, Falconer, N.Y., and William Butler of Jamestown; a grandchild, William J. Butler Jr. of Jamestown; sisters: Pamela Butler of Columbia, S.C. and Pamela Florida of New Orleans, La.; a brother, Wendell Antoine Jr. of New Orleans, La.; nephew, Branden Butler; cousin, Willis Richardson of Elkridge, Md.; an aunt, Betty Jane Richardson of Jamestown; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and family and friends.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Walker officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service. To send a message to the family or to light a candle in memory, visit www.presentsixbeyfuneral. com.
