A Jamestown woman was committed to jail after police say she struck two vehicles while driving drunk and fled into the woods Tuesday morning.
Stacy Vansickle, 33, was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $3,000 cash bail. She was charged with reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, speeding, failure to keep right, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while intoxicated and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Witnesses told police that a pickup truck traveling northbound on West Virginia Boulevard had left the road and struck a van parked in a driveway after midnight. The collision caused the van to move, a police report said.
The driver, later identified by police as Vansickle, then continued northbound and allegedly struck another vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Police said Vansickle left the vehicle and ran into the woods at Allen Park.
Witnesses maintained a visual of Vansickle with police dispatch and provided her location to officers. The city resident was later taken into custody on Camp Street at Maple Street.
Vansickle also was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child after police learned her three children, ages 3 to 11 years old, allegedly were left at home alone during the incident.
Vansickle is scheduled to return to court Nov. 19.
