To The Reader's Forum:
I recently read where a few different restaurants were changing their policies regarding tipping, that instead of being able to leave a tip, that the prices of the meals will go up to accommodate paying them the true minimum wage or higher.
I say it needs to be common practice not to expected to pay a tip. I order online and often asked to pay a gratuity right then. That's on top of paying a delivery fee, to which drivers don't see. If indeed I like your business, I'll come/order back.
Why should I have to pay more for service that's expected from an employee? Do we tip our cashiers at the store or burger joints more because they used a smile and a thanks?
