MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Behind Sam Mott's performance, Frewsburg (1-3) broke through with its first win at the Grand Strand Softball Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
Mott scattered two hits, fanned four and walked five as the Bears topped Brookville from Dayton, Ohio, 9-1.
The Bears started out strong with a four-run outburst in the first inning as Reyanne Strong singled and walks to McKenzie Cass and Shawna Raymond loaded the bases. Emily Hair hit a two-run single and Alanna Blanchard had a two-run double.

Frewsburg added a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Alanna Blanchard for a 4-0 edge.
Mott's two-run double keyed a three-run fourth and an RBI fielder's choice by Kaitlyn Blanchard scored the final Bears' run in the fifth.
Mott lost her shutout in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk that tallied Hailee Hovehman, who doubled.
Strong paced the Bears with three hits followed by Cass with two.
Earlier, Frewsburg absorbed an 11-1 loss to Sherman, W.Va., as MacKenzie Smith clouted a pair of two-run home runs.
Frewsburg scored in the third when Raymond singled and eventually scored on an error.
Alanna Blanchard did the pitching and yielded 11 hits with four walks and a strikeout.
Annie Berg connected for a double, Strong and Cass added singles in a losing cause.
Frewsburg will play an undetermined opponent today.
