ASHVILLE - Bernie Lenehan was the top shooter and the Big Tree's Top Shelf team the top squad when the Chautauqua County Winter Skeet League concluded recently.
Lenehan missed just seven of 500 targets - that's a 98.6 average - during the year while Big Trees' Top Shelf compiled a nearly perfect 19-1 mark.
Bruce Raymond, who had the long run of the season with 148 straight, was the runner-up to Lenehan as shooter of the year.

Mat Kelley shot the lone 50 straight at the postseason shoot held at the Big Tree Sportsmen's Club on March 24.
Lenehan was the Class AAA top gun, Randy Becker led the way in Class AA (Raymond was the runner-up) and Paul Huckno was the top shooter in Class A ahead of runnerup Mike Asel.
The Class B champion was Dave Kavanaugh with Phil Klinginsmith second, the Class C champion was Dave Champ with Paul McKotch as the runner-up and the Class D champion was Randy Josephson, who finished ahead of Cole Holthouse.
The Lady Champion was Cindy Johnson (Stacey Asel was the runner-up), Junior Champion was Denton Holthouse and James Aiken was the No-Class champion, finishing ahead of Fred Peterson.
Mike Newman was the Vet champion, Roger Rhinehart the Senior Vet champion and Gary Breneman the Super Senior Vet champion.
