This will probably be Tom Reed's opponent:

Public Safety Chair Arrested (Ithaca Dem uses connections to get charges dropped?) FingerLakes1**** Local Network ^ | 12/21/09 Posted on December 22, 2009 1:46:34 PM EST

"ITHACA -- A Tompkins County legislator is facing a misdemeanor charge related to an outstanding traffic violation.

Martha Robertson, who also is the chairwoman of the legislature's public safety committee, said her arrest last week was the result of a paperwork mix-up and that the Ithaca Police shouldn't have taken her into custody."

Which one would you choose? I would still vote for Tom Reed. But George has some points. Get with the program Tom Reed!

If he can't manage his own affairs then how is he expected to manage ours. There has to be more to this story!!

This doesn't make sense.

No matter who the public official is, the media need to ask how such an "unfortunate clerical error" could have happened. The media should not just accept an "unfortunate clerical error" explanation without question.

It is way beyond the point that Mr. Reed did not have "insufficient funds in [his] personal account to cover this erroneously written check from the campaign" checking account.

It is way beyond the point that Mr. Reed's campaign has "new precautions and procedures in place in order to ensure this does not happen again." Such "precautions and procedures" should already have been in place. None of this should have happened in the first place.

Those are distractions from the real questions. For example: (cont'd below)

(cont'd from above)

Who has authority to write checks on the campaign checking account?

Who has authority to write checks on Mr. Reed's personal checking account?

Who wrote the $4,247.83 check?

Does that person have authority to write checks on either or both accounts? If so, does that person still have such authority (and if so, why)? If not, how and why did that person even have the campaign checkbook?

How could that person have confused the two accounts?

To what extent was this an accident?

What happened is a crime. What did Mr. Reed know and when did he know it?
