Obama Speaks With Forked Tongue

June 16, 2013

It’s bad enough the federal government spies on us....

Mac, what I "pushed back" onto you were conservative Republican laws (Romneycare and the Patriot Act) that once embraced by Democrats became socialism and tyranny. The IRS "scandal" has been amply proven to be nothing, and Fast and Furious, not that I brought it up, WAS started by Bush. You complain if Obama doesn't stop Manning and complain if does stop the next leaker. Try taking a little responsibility for a change.

Yeas carlaw. When a society tolerates the usurping of the very foundation, that's the end.

Tolerance is the last virtue of a dying society. Aristotle Will we ever learn?

DavidVA you are wrong again. The NSA is misusing the law to monitor us in ways never imagined. This misuse gives enormous power to those who aren't very accountable. Any government who secretly spies on nearly all the population is aiming to control the population.

Obama told us exactly what he was doing. He was going to fundamentally change America. And the crowds loved him for it. He told the crowds of people who voted for MLK's dream "it's our time". The crowds of Latinos "it's our turn". And he can't be stopped by weak politicians in a cumbersome system designed to serve honest people.

Stop trying to defend Obama, he is indefensible at this point. When Bush screwed up, I said so and did not blindly defend his actions. I didn't like his spending. But, unlike Obama, Bush is an honorable man. Obama is a liar, which makes him dishonorable.

Coppergoat, you libs are unbelievable. Your attempt to push everything that Obama has done to himself, (the IRS, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, spying on US citizens, journalist, the list keeps growing) back onto the Republicans is a noble attempt, but no one is buying it any longer, except you true-blue, dyed in the wool libs.

I'm no cheerleader for NSA intrusion, but the actual NSA efforts involved no wiretapping. They talk about collecting and analyzing metadata (confusing language, I admit), but the real analysis is somehting the NSA has done for years: traffic analysis. There's a nice summary on Wikipedia.

And no, I don't favor doing it, but it isn't wiretapping.

Maybe Copper & David don't mind being targets of the IRS or have their phones tapped by NSA for no reason. Let's get real with the debate for even many Democrats are not on board to such a massive intrusion on the scale the Obama administration has undertaken. Obama has set a tone where he holds no one accountable as long as it furthers his political agenda.

If you plan to throw bricks, remember this: GWB spent money like a drunken sailor, got us involved in a war in Iraq by choice, and handed the pharmaceutical industy billions through Medicare Part D.

Scandals of that magnitude are hard to beat.

Republicans are getting really, really good at acting outraged by their own plans. See Romneycare and the Patriot Act.

Trying to remember the editorial supporting the brilliant hero Bradley Manning. Oh wait, his revelations were about war atrocities and murders and didn't make the President look bad, only the military, so he's a traitor, while with this newly ginned up "scandal" the President can take the fall for what Republicans pushed for all along. Priceless.

This commentary hits the mark from all angles. We have a corrupt administration that can't tell the truth about Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Fast & Furious, the snooping on news journalists and this massive intrusion on our privacy. Unfortunately, no one wants to impeach the first black president. We need a drastic change of leadership.
