The EPA,like most agencies in government, devotes an inordinate amount of time trying to expand its authority in order to perpetuate its existence. However, unlike most agencies that face bi-artisan headwinds, the left has used the EPA to further its extremist ideologies. Ideology that wouldn't get through the normal legislative process because it's too unpopular with the voters. Take fracking, for instance. If Cuomo were to reduce currently unaffordable public benefits but announced that they could be restored if fracking revenue were to become available, the public clamor would be so deafening that only the most gerrymandered Democrat would vote against fracking. Over the years, the EPA has become increasingly arrogant and abusive to the average citizen and comunity but with the Obama administration, it's arrogance on steroids.
