Reminds me of the ANF headquarters relocation in Warren a few years ago. Rather than renew their existing downtown location or move to another existing downtown structure and gain benefit both of making use of an otherwise vacant building and taking advantage of Warren's municipal geothermal heating/cooling, they built a new building & development outside the city... much higher cost for taxpayers and unnecessary sprawl.

Gov.-used buildings should follow a policy of making use and rehabbing existing structures. Jamestown is not alone having loads of vacant buildings which private biz probably avoids using due to remodeling and maint costs as well as possible requirements for environmental cleanup. Gov-use offices have an opportunity to tackle this problem and instead seem to contribute to making the problem worse.
